The fire tower is just outside Ruidoso, NM, and you can drive to a spot near the tower, and then climb up the steps to get the panoramic view.

What a wonderful tradition. Gathering. Fish frys. Family.

And what a gracious perspective. “I’m of the generation that really doesn’t understand getting tattooed. But in looking at theirs, I decided that if you wanted tattoos, then those were pretty nice.”

Because at the heart of the matter, family is about blood and roots, about acceptance, not about ink.
