We’ve had an ongoing battle this year with the red wasps. The exterminator has worked on eradicating them, and I’ve worked on it too. I’ve found nests in the oak trees out front, and I’ve destroyed nests all around the house. They’ve even tried building nests in my gas grill. So far, Missy Dog is the only one to feel the pain of a sting this year, and she wasn’t very happy about it. I’ve gone through several cans of that long distance spray that kills them on contact, and have a couple of cans at the ready as we speak.
However, I gave this one a short reprieve as he was working on building a nest on the back porch — just long enough to snap several photos to get a look at the enemy up close and personal with the lens. I almost felt bad after watching him work as I dispatched him. Almost.
