This tree, growing near the Guadalupe Mountains National Park headquarters, survived a forest fire. But as you can see, it still bears scars. It was in fact pruned and reshaped by the fire.
Lots of my friends have fires raging around them right now. They’re painful, they’re life altering. These fires will leave scars as well.
And the scars will be part of their ongoing natural beauty.
